About The Founder

Chera Howard has been an entrepreneur since the ripe age of 17 years of age. Her businesses have included, being a managing cosmetologist, transportation, and fitness. Chera is passionate about spreading awareness of the importance of organic growing and organic eating. She is also passionate about better farming techniques, revolutionizing methods that will reverse soil erosion, and helping undo the effects of global warming and climate change. Some of her other passions include water conservation, holistic farming, healing of the body, and utilizing food as medicine.

Minority groups lack access to healthier food options, which leads to health issues and disease in minority communities. Chera’s ultimate goal is to give those who in food deserts to have the access they need to healthy foods, by growing their own. In efforts to help rural areas, she started JLH Enterprises 2018 and a farm of her own, JohnMax Hemp & Specialty Crop Farm LLC.

“As an African American woman, I understand being a part of the 1% ratio in the business, which can be intimidating. My goal is to assist other minorities in feeling confident in accomplishing their dreams. As human beings, we can be compassionate toward others’ struggles, but when you have walked in their shoes, I feel like there is another level of passion in your work.”
